On 26th September 2019, the Supreme People’s Court announced the Arrangement Concerning Mutual Assistance in Court-ordered Interim Measures in Aid of Arbitral Proceedings by the Courts of Mainland of China and of the HK Special Administrative Region (hereinafter referred as “the Arrangement”) will come into force on 1st October 2019. By virtue of the Arrangement, Hong Kong is the first arbitration venue outside of Mainland of China where parties to arbitrations may obtain interim relief in support of arbitration proceedings from Mainland Courts (a similar arrangement came into effect in respect of the Macao SAR on 25th March 2022).
